Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: 21 July 2026

Kalumo's paid plans are monthly subscriptions with no lock-in. This page explains exactly what happens when you cancel, and when refunds apply.

How billing works

Paid plans (Pro and Business) are billed monthly in advance, in South African rand, through Paystack. See our pricing page for current prices. There are no setup fees, no contracts and no minimum term. The Free plan costs nothing and never bills you.

Cancelling your subscription

You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing in the app, or by emailing support@kalumo.co.za. When you cancel:

  • you keep full access to your paid features until the end of the month you have already paid for;
  • you will not be billed again;
  • at the end of the period your account moves to the Free plan; your data stays intact and you can resubscribe at any time.

Refunds

Because you can try Kalumo on the Free plan before paying, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, we do not offer pro-rata refunds for partial months or for time remaining on a cancelled subscription.

We will always refund you in full where:

  • you were charged in error (for example, a duplicate charge);
  • you were billed after cancelling;
  • a refund is required by law.

To request a refund, email support@kalumo.co.za from your account email with the payment reference. We aim to respond within 2 business days; approved refunds are returned to your original payment method via Paystack, typically within 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank.

Failed payments and downgrades

If a monthly renewal fails and cannot be collected, your account moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted, and upgrading again restores your paid features. Downgrading between paid plans takes effect at your next billing date.

Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 or any other applicable law. If you have any questions, contact us. We'd rather fix a problem than argue about a policy.
